Aspiring filmmaker Osric Taylor is determined to create his Civil War-themed adaptation of Hamlet. However, when financial backing falls through, he reluctantly accepts an offer from Southern socialite Hester Beauchamp to finance the project, on the condition that he includes zombies to ensure profitability. Midway through filming, Hester passes away, prompting Osric to disguise himself as her to secure the final payment. This act draws the attention of the local police and the curious local journalist, Shine Reynolds. The story is inspired by true events.
