George, a scientist based in Rotterdam, is becoming disillusioned with the academic world. The unexpected passing of a longtime friend prompts him to reconnect with his African heritage by taking charge of a rundown research station in the jungles of Equatorial Guinea. There, he encounters a cheerful orphan boy who helps George see the vibrant beauty of the area. The boy also plays cupid, bringing George together with the woman who manages the local orphanage. Everything seems to be going well until an old acquaintance of George’s unexpectedly arrives, causing chaos in their lives. George soon realizes that the path to redemption is fraught with challenges, and even more so when the road comes to an end.
