The Yazawa family is made up of Takuro (Koji Yakusho), a father preoccupied with day trading, his delightful wife Erumi (Satomi Kobayashi), and their teenage son Tetsuya (Eita), who aspires to be an astronaut. Joining them is Saburo Akiba (Junichi Sawayashiki), a well-meaning teenager who has just been released from a juvenile detention center. The story takes a dramatic turn when Tetsuya ends up in a coma following a car accident. This incident triggers a series of events, beginning with Takuro answering a phone call from an unsuspecting girl named Hikari, during which he impersonates his son, Tetsuya.
