Alex, a young journalist, unexpectedly crosses paths with Kyle, a charming architect unaware that his ex-wife, Elizabeth, has returned to town following the death of her wealthy, elderly Parisian husband. Elizabeth resumes her work as a psychologist and begins treating a new patient, Richard, who is anxious about his relationship with Jane.
