“The Penitent Thief” delves into the lives of the two unnamed individuals crucified alongside Jesus, exploring the events that led them to that pivotal moment. This sweeping narrative begins with the Magi’s journey and their fortuitous encounter with young Dismas and his brother Jotham at the Bethlehem manger. Tragedy soon befalls the brothers, leading them to join a violent group of thieves. Among them is Gestas, a young man destined to share their grim fate. As they attempt to evade their inevitable end, they must first contend with a vengeful Roman centurion. Throughout their journey, they repeatedly encounter Jesus and other significant biblical figures, only to realize that their path ultimately leads to the harsh reality awaiting them at Golgotha.
