“The Laramie Project” takes place in the vicinity of Laramie, Wyoming, following the tragic killing of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard. To develop the theatrical version, the Tectonic Theatre Project, a group of eight performers from New York, journeyed to Laramie. Over two years, they conducted extensive interviews with the local residents. The film adaptation brings to life the theater company’s experience, utilizing the verbatim transcripts to depict a community compelled to face its own realities.
