Following the tragic and enigmatic drowning of her fiancé, Rebecca (portrayed by Katie Savoy) travels to China with her film crew to create a documentary on the Chinese Ghost Festival. During her investigation, she uncovers the tale of a concubine named Chan Ju Chi, who was brutally killed and disposed of in a well by the chief concubine, Ping Wei (played by JuJu Chan), within the secluded confines of a palace. According to legend, Chan Ju Chi has returned as a “jiangshi,” a vengeful spirit that preys on the innocent to possess their bodies. The situation escalates when a worker is attacked near a dilapidated well in an ancient palace. As Rebecca delves deeper into the mystery surrounding the legend, she finds herself in a race against time as those around her are murdered in horrific ways.
