In a desperate bid to safeguard his family and settle his gambling debts with a local crime boss, Jimbo makes the ill-fated decision to rob a fish market, unaware that it belongs to the very same mobster. Fleeing the scene, he finds himself trapped in a nearby curio shop, where he takes a group of eccentric individuals hostage, including Maguire, who might be his biological father.
