Gumball Watterson, a 12-year-old feline, navigates his middle school years in the town of Elmore. Alongside him is Darwin Watterson, his pet, adoptive sibling, and closest companion. Together, they often get caught up in a range of misadventures throughout the city. During these escapades, Gumball engages with his family members—Anais, Richard, and Nicole Watterson—as well as other residents of the community.
