“The Affair” delves into the emotional repercussions of a romantic entanglement outside of marriage between Noah Solloway and Alison Lockhart, who cross paths in the vacation spot of Montauk on Long Island. Noah, a schoolteacher from New York City, has one published novel titled “A Person who Visits a Place” and is grappling with the challenge of writing a second book. Although he is contentedly married with four children, he feels frustrated by his reliance on his affluent father-in-law. Alison, on the other hand, is a young waitress attempting to rebuild her life and marriage following the devastating loss of her child. The narrative of their affair is presented from both the male and female viewpoints, each with its own unique memory biases.
