Taking place in Lincolnshire in 1996, the series narrates the poignant yet comedic tale of Rae, a deeply troubled teenager. Having recently been discharged from a psychiatric facility following a four-month stay due to a suicide attempt, Rae starts to re-establish her bond with her best friend Chloe and her circle of friends. Unbeknownst to them, Rae struggles with mental health and body image issues, as they have been under the impression that she was in France during her absence.
