Kickin’ It is a comedy TV series with a martial arts theme that premiered on Disney XD on June 13, 2011. The show, created and executive produced by Jim O’Doherty, is suitable for children aged 7 and up. It centers around a karate instructor, portrayed by Jason Earles, at a struggling martial arts school and his five unconventional students, played by Leo Howard, Dylan Riley Snyder, Mateo Arias, Olivia Holt, and Alex Christian Jones.

On September 20, 2011, Disney XD announced the renewal of the series for a second season, which began airing on April 2, 2012. The network further confirmed on November 5, 2012, that the show would return for a third season, with production starting in January 2013. The third season debuted on April 1, 2013, but Alex Christian Jones was no longer part of the main cast. In August 2013, Disney XD commissioned a fourth season, set to air in 2014. Olivia Holt will not be returning for the fourth season as she is set to star in the Disney Channel series I Didn’t Do It.
