“Huntik: Secrets & Seekers” is an animated TV series that debuted in 2009, created and directed by Iginio Straffi. This Italian-American collaboration was produced by Big Bocca Productions, owned by Richard McWilliam of Upper Deck, and Rainbow S.p.A. The show is a spin-off of the Winx Club series. While the animation and visual design were crafted in Italy, the scriptwriting and voice recording took place in the United States. It was broadcast on The CW4Kids at 11:30 am EST on Saturdays. In Europe, it aired on Disney XD and CITV, and in India, the first season was shown on Disney XD in 2010. The series premiered on January 3, 2009, with a single episode in the US and the first four episodes in Europe, with Jetix hosting premieres after the initial episode. A magazine announcement alongside the new Winx Club season indicated that Huntik’s second season would air in the US in fall 2012, but it actually began in spring 2012 in the UK on CITV and in Australia on Channel Eleven. The first season was released on DVD by Anime Works in 2010.
