Ghost Hunters is a reality TV series from the United States that first aired on Syfy on October 6, 2004. The show follows paranormal investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson as they explore locations rumored to be haunted. Initially, both worked as plumbers for Roto-Rooter during the day and conducted their investigations at night. With the show’s growing popularity, their focus has shifted primarily to the series, though they remain honorary employees of Roto-Rooter and occasionally take on jobs when their schedules allow.
This series is not connected to the original Ghosthunters show from 1996, produced by Inca Productions for the Discovery Channel. The concept was adapted by Pilgrim Films & Television in the U.S. to create Ghost Hunters. The only connection between the two shows is Ian Cashmore, who hosted the UK/Europe version. Cashmore was involved in the initial stages of the U.S. show but opted out after filming the promotional material.
