
Dance Moms is a reality TV show from the United States that first aired on Lifetime on July 13, 2011. Produced by Collins Avenue Productions, the series takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the Abby Lee Dance Company. It chronicles the early dance careers of children and their mothers’ involvement in the dance show industry. A related series, Dance Moms: Miami, was launched on April 3, 2012, featuring Victor Smalley and Angel Armas’ Stars Dance Studio in Miami. However, it was discontinued in September 2012 after just eight episodes.
On October 10, 2012, Lifetime revealed that Dance Moms would return for a third season, which would include 26 episodes and premiered on January 1, 2013.
