Neil Patrick Harris, a five-time Emmy Award winner, is set to star in a new primetime variety show on NBC, inspired by the highly successful U.K. program “Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.” This series will include comedic sketches, musical performances, mini game shows, celebrity hidden camera pranks, and guest appearances by top-tier stars. Harris, known for hosting the Emmy and Tony Awards and recently announced as the host for the 2015 Academy Awards, will showcase his diverse talents in this hour-long show. He recently appeared in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” and completed a Broadway stint as the lead in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” earning a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Harris is also well-known for his nine-season portrayal of Barney Stinson on “How I Met Your Mother,” a role that garnered him four Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations.
