American Dreams

“American Dreams” is a drama series that aired on NBC, produced by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions in collaboration with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. The show was the brainchild of Jonathan Prince, who developed it alongside Josh Goldstein, with Prince and Dick Clark serving as executive producers. It premiered on September 29, 2002, and is primarily set in Philadelphia. Initially, it was broadcast on Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern, but from March 9, 2005, it shifted to the same time slot on Wednesdays until the end of its third season. The narrative centers around the Pryor family in Philadelphia during the mid-1960s, with the first season covering 1963–64, the second 1964–65, and the third 1965–66. In Australia, the series was initially titled “Our Generation” but reverted to “American Dreams” for its second season.

The theme song, “Generation,” was composed and performed by Emerson Hart, the lead vocalist of Tonic, and won the ASCAP award for Best Theme Song of Television in 2003. Additionally, the show was honored with the “Future Classic” award at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
