In Alan Arkin’s film “Samuel Beckett is Coming Soon…”, two actors, Tony A and Tony Z, embark on a journey that takes them far from home, accompanied only by a road and a tree. They are in search of fame, recognition, or simply an audience, but their lives begin to reflect the tragicomedy of “Waiting for Godot.” As they travel through the Southland, they encounter far less than they had hoped for while attempting to present Beckett’s timeless play to a modern audience that seems largely uninterested.
