However, his credibility and suitability to face his next opponent, the reigning champion, are being questioned due to his middle-class background and higher education. As he prepares for the championship bout, the reigning titleholder, Spencer “Timber” Collier, portrayed by Allen Maldonado (“Straight Outta Compton,” “Black-ish”), uses every trick in the book, including trash talk and steroids, to unsettle Jaxon. With high stakes on the line, Jaxon is distracted by family issues, attention-seeking fans, and a manager with a severe gambling addiction, all of which threaten his focus on securing the championship. Amidst the intense physical and mental pressure, Jaxon encounters Endira, a stunning photographer played by Raney Branch (“The Originals,” “Grey’s Anatomy”), who wins his heart while concealing a heartbreaking secret.
