The Samurai Cop is ready to take names and chew bubblegum, having already borrowed from countless films and clichés, so let’s leave the introduction at that. This officer, known as Samurai, has journeyed from the distant land of San Diego to Los Angeles. It wouldn’t make much sense for the story to unfold in San Diego or for the cop to originally hail from LA—or even Japan, for that matter. Expect beheadings, explosions, awkwardly inserted stunt doubles, clumsy dialogue, conspicuous lion heads, and some regrettable fashion choices in this film that screams late ’80s and early ’90s.
