On June 18, 1954, the CIA distributed leaflets in Guatemala City, calling for the president’s resignation. This event marked the beginning of a 36-year-long Civil War in Guatemala. Despite the turmoil, a sense of hope is emerging. Against all odds, those who once suffered have become advocates for change, using their painful histories to mend the future for the next generation. This narrative follows Shorty, an ex-gang member turned pastor, and Tita, a woman who established a school in one of Guatemala’s most infamous slums, as they collaborate to rejuvenate La Limonada.
