The story follows young Rémi, an orphan taken in by the kind-hearted Madam Barberin. At the age of ten, he is separated from his adoptive mother and placed in the care of Signor Vitalis, an enigmatic traveling musician. Alongside Vitalis, Rémi experiences the challenging life of a performer, singing and performing acrobatics to earn a living. Accompanied by his loyal dog, Capi, and a little monkey named Joli-Coeur, Rémi embarks on an extensive journey across France. This adventure, filled with encounters, friendships, and acts of kindness, ultimately leads him to uncover the mystery of his origins.
