“Put your soul on your hand and walk” emerged as my cinematic response to the relentless violence against Palestinians, serving as my personal anchor to maintain sanity. A transformative moment occurred when I encountered Fatem through a Palestinian acquaintance. She became my eyes in Gaza, enduring the bombardment while capturing the conflict on film. In turn, I became her link to the world beyond what she described as her Gaza prison. We sustained this lifeline for over 200 days. The fragments of images and sounds we shared form the essence of this film. Fatem’s tragic death on April 16, 2025, during an Israeli assault on her home, has irrevocably altered its significance.
