While working late at the office one evening, Veronica is assaulted by a male coworker who unintentionally kills her when she falls and strikes her head on a sharp object. Later that night, he encounters a bar hostess who is a spitting image of the woman he has just killed. He convinces her to go to the office the next day, posing as Veronica to submit her resignation. However, his plan backfires when she chooses to remain and continues to impersonate the late secretary.
