Seeking to escape his tumultuous past with the Baltimore police, Nate Burns (played by Eddie Cibrian) relocates to Alaska. There, he embraces a peaceful existence as the sheriff of a small town and starts a romantic relationship with the lively bush pilot, Meg Galligan (portrayed by LeAnn Rimes). However, the tranquility is shattered when Meg’s father is discovered dead, propelling Burns into the center of a perilous murder inquiry.
