In this follow-up film, Lillian has been adopted, and some years have passed. Annie, now married and expecting a child, pays a visit to her colleague, Dr. Owen. Dr. Owen is eager to have a child but is struggling with infertility. Meanwhile, Lillian develops a romantic interest in her adoptive father’s assistant, while her adoptive father has grown very protective of her.
