Jodi Rutherford, an optimistic drama teacher from Britain, convinces a skeptical South African farmer to help her get ready for a significant film role as a heroine from the Afrikaans war. In exchange, Jodi agrees to direct the yearly concert held on the Willemse farm. Through her experiences with the eccentric residents of the small town and the headstrong Kobus, Jodi learns that life offers more than just the glitz and glamour of the film industry.
