“Hankyu Densha” explores the intertwined stories of several passengers traveling on the Imazu Line of the Hankyu Railway, which links the cities of Nishinomiya and Takarazuka in Hyogo prefecture. Among the travelers is Shoko (played by Miki Nakatani), a woman in her 30s working in an office who has recently been left by her boyfriend for a younger coworker. The film also features a college student (portrayed by Erika Toda) who is easily influenced by her unreliable boyfriend. Other characters include a grandmother with her granddaughter, a housewife, a high school girl, and a female college student who is an otaku. Despite the train journey lasting just 15 minutes between the two stations, the interactions among these passengers lead to significant changes in their lives.
