Fourteen years following the Third Impact, Shinji Ikari finds himself awakening in a world that is unfamiliar to him. Despite the passage of time, he remains unchanged. The Earth lies in devastation, Nerv has been disbanded, and those he once defended have now turned against him. Forming a bond with the mysterious Nagisa Kaworu, Shinji resumes his battle against the angels, realizing that the conflict is far from concluded, even if it means facing off against former comrades. The characters endure ongoing struggles amidst their confrontations with the angels and each other, leading to a potential apocalyptic outcome.
