The narrative draws from authentic records of the brutal acts carried out by the Japanese forces during the Nanjing Massacre. A collection of civilians, seeking refuge from the chaos, find themselves in the Lucky Photo Studio. To endure the daily threats, they are compelled to help a Japanese military photographer with film development. By a stroke of luck, they come across photographic proof that reveals the Japanese army’s brutal actions in the city. Although their initial aim is merely to endure the nightmare, they eventually choose to safeguard these incriminating negatives as evidence of the ongoing atrocities in Nanjing.
