Agnes, a teacher from the rural areas of Hesse, travels to Berlin to see if a deceased girl is her missing daughter, Lydia, who ran away. Although the girl is not Lydia, Agnes decides to remain in the city. During her continued search, she encounters a young wanderer named Ines, who soon becomes her constant companion.
