Returning from his final deployment, Sgt. Major John Frost comes home a month earlier than expected, eager to celebrate Christmas with his family. However, he discovers that his wife, Jill, and son, Jimmy, are preoccupied and unable to give him the warm reception he had hoped for. During his absence, they have also welcomed a new member to the family—a small dog named Charlie. Seeking comfort, John spends time with fellow veterans at the Moose Lodge. Meanwhile, Charlie discovers Hank, a homeless, retired Vietnam veteran who has suffered a heart attack. This encounter inspires John to find a new sense of purpose. He mobilizes friends, family, and the community to construct a new home for the veterans, ensuring they have a cozy Christmas Eve and a fresh start in civilian life.
