The story takes place in the Kaga Domain during the Edo Period. Oharu, known for her exceptional culinary abilities, marries Yasunobu, the successor of the Funaki family, who are the official chefs for the Kaga Domain. Despite his lineage, Yasunobu lacks cooking skills. With guidance from her mother-in-law, Mitsuru, Oharu starts instructing Yasunobu in the art of cooking.
