After traveling countless dusty miles and engaging in intense battles, these courageous African-American cavalrymen find themselves in a shabby frontier town where they are forced to walk instead of ride. The town shows them disrespect, but their Native-American adversaries do not. The Apache leader, Victorio, along with other warriors, bestows upon these horsemen a title of honor and strength: “Buffalo Soldiers.” The troopers’ bold pursuit of Victorio serves as the backdrop for this powerful homage to the former slaves and other African-Americans who served in the 9th and 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiments. Starring Danny Glover, Mykelti Williamson, Glynn Turman, Carl Lumbly, and Michael Warren, this adventure sheds light on a largely untold story and the unique moral challenges these men faced.
