A reclusive woman, portrayed by Melissa Leo, supports herself through her jobs as a mail carrier and body piercer. She is dedicated to assisting her troubled adult daughter, played by Marin Ireland, in becoming independent. In doing so, she often overlooks her own needs, redirecting her feminine desires towards caring for her houseplants. This dynamic persists even when a charming and hardworking environmentalist, played by Josh Hamilton, comes to live with them.
