Located on Scotland’s northern shoreline, Dounreay is a nuclear research facility established in the late 1950s, with its reactors now gradually decommissioned. This short documentary follows the trail of Walter Glass, a fictional scientist who vanished while examining the site’s shutdown process. The film delves into the harsh landscape of this coastal area, offering a meditation on the connections between myth, technology, and the environment. It highlights what has vanished—the missing researcher and a cottage that mysteriously burned down—to contemplate what will endure, whether it’s the remnants of a Neolithic shelter, deserted nuclear structures, or the stories, myths, and legends passed down through generations.
