A newly trained pilot is summoned to join a squadron as they await orders to take off. Over the course of one day, he observes intense aerial combat in the skies over southern England. After each grueling encounter, the pilots return to their base, only to discover that another comrade is absent. Refusing to give up, the pilot and his fellow airmen band together to fly again, resolute in their mission to protect both their airfield and their nation.
