On January 6, 2021, the United States experienced an unparalleled assault on the Capitol. While armed militia members and QAnon supporters captured the media’s attention, the crowd was also filled with Christian symbols such as crosses, flags bearing religious messages, rosaries, and signs proclaiming “Jesus Saves.” This raises the question: what drove so many Christians to engage in this act of violence?
