Set against the vibrant backdrop of the post-war 1950s and early 60s, the narrative centers on a complex love triangle. Tomoko, portrayed by Hikari Mitsushima, has long been the mistress of Shitto, an older, married writer played by Kaoru Kobayashi. Despite his talent, Shitto has not yet achieved public acclaim. Growing weary of this stagnant affair, Tomoko becomes involved with a younger man, Ryota Kinoshita, played by Gou Ayano. However, even this new relationship fails to fulfill her desires.
