On Skeet’s twelfth birthday, his older brother Randy gifts him his first surfboard, sparking a summer filled with the pursuit of the ultimate wave, lively beach parties, and thrilling escapades, especially as Randy becomes preoccupied with a new romantic interest. To Skeet’s amazement, he is mentored by surfing icon Jim Wesley, who teaches him the art of hot-dogging. Meanwhile, Randy, grappling with their father’s death and trying to step into his role, feels envious of Jim’s growing influence on Skeet and is displeased when Jim starts dating their single mother.
